This is the one feature Disney Plus needs to better right now

There are enough of reasons to go back and sentinel all the Marvel movies on Disney Plus (whether you sentry them in order or not). Perhaps you like seeing how the storytelling evolved over the years or you like seeing how a decade plus of movies coalesced into a grand finale. Possibly you're a fan of a detail graphic symbol, or like me, you've got a daughter who tin can't get enough of Thor: Ragnarok.

All those are valid explanations. But I would also posit that it's sometimes fun to go back and watch the Marvel movies on Disney Plus only for their post-credit sequences. So it's a shame that Disney'due south streaming service does such an inconsistent task showcasing them.

I realized this a week or then ago when my wife was revisiting the beginning Iron Human picture, which xiii years after its release, notwithstanding bops along at a pleasing step. We got to the terminate, Tony Stark announced to the earth that he was, in betoken of fact, Atomic number 26 Man, and the guitar solo from Black Sabbath'south song of the same proper name kicked into high gear. And so nosotros sat there and waited for the inevitable terminate credits sequence, which in those days, really did appear at the very cease of the credits. (Kids, inquire your parents.)

Simply it turns out nosotros actually didn't have to expect. Afterward the chief credits finished rolling and the long coil of technical back up began rolling beyond the screen, a small Skip Credits button appeared. The button does not, every bit you lot might imagine, hustle yous off to the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; rather, you jump to the end of the credits as Nick Fury is explaining to Tony Stark what the Avenger initiative might be.

That got me thinking — do all the Marvel movies on Disney Plus feature this Skip Credits push button, allowing y'all to jump to the post-credit scenes without having to ringlet frontwards like a commoner? The answer is yes, kind of. Though information technology really varies from flick to pic.

Dr. Strange gets a skip push button that shows upward correct after the Sorcerer Supreme's tete a tete with Thor and then y'all immediately notice upwardly what Mordo's up to. (Spoiler alert: Information technology's non good, peculiarly if you lot're Benjamin Bratt!) The beginning Avengers pic does not have a skip button — in fact, the moment Thanos makes his outset on-photographic camera advent, Disney Plus is prepare to show you Avengers: Age of Ultron instead of earth's mightiest heroes enjoying some shawarma. Emmet-Man will let you lot enjoy the first post-credit sequence, but you lot can't skip to the 2nd i. And on it goes.

Near every bit I can effigy, your chances of getting a Skip Credits option depend heavily on how new the movie is and how many postal service-credit scenes there are. So again, even some of the not-Disney Marvel movies don't hibernate their post-credit surprises under a bushel — in X-Men: Last Stand, for example, you tin jump ahead to the very end if yous're patient plenty.

As inconsistent equally Disney Plus can be with how information technology handles anything that happens after the credits, it'due south miles ahead of other streaming services. Unless the mail-credits action is interwoven with the credits themselves, Netflix volition compress down the movie y'all're watching into a tiny box, prompting you to go and binge something else. Peacock is particularly egregious — on the Harry Potter movies, it'll bring up a box with the next pic in the serial, and if you accept no action, that moving-picture show starts playing whether in that location's a post-credit scene or not.

What I propose is a simple, audition-friendly alter. If there is a postal service-credit sequence — and Disney should know if there is, as it now controls almost all the IP in the world — and then instead of trying to frog-march audiences on to the adjacent movie or testify, let the credits play out. For people who want to bound alee, have that skip push appear consistently and for every mid- and post-credit sequence there is. And instead of labeling information technology something confusing like "Skip Credits," give information technology a more than descriptive term like "Next Scene." You could fifty-fifty bake something like this into your app's settings and so that no i always gets shorted out of an actress flick scene without knowing in that location's more to come across.

Because of the long shadow Disney casts in the amusement earth. I suspect that if Disney Plus got a little fleck more consequent with how it streams postal service-credit sequences, rivals would follow suit. And isn't a better streaming experience across the board something we should all aim for?

And going into 2022, Tom's Guide feels Disney Plus really needs to give the states something to talk about.

At present if you lot'll excuse me, I'm going to go dorsum and watch the end of Thor: Ragnarok. I've got a adept feeling about the fate of the people of Asgard!
